Fishing Reports and Photos

07/28/2010

We took 3rd place last Saturday in the Little Salmon River Derby. We had all Brown Trout. We had 2 over 14 lbs. Great job Pete and gang for getting all your fish in the boat. The King salmon are still eluding us on the Eastern shore. They have yet to show up in any number. We have been fishing mostly Brown trout and have had some limit catches. Weight wise anywhere from smaller to 14 - 17 lbs being taken. The fishing is good as long as the wind doesn't blow the day before your trip. We are fishing 100 - 110 feet of water. The salmon should show up any day...so get your rod in the water and fish.

Some salmon are being caught. About 150 feet is the best depth down about 125 feet. The butter face Big Weenie fly behind a Chartreuse attractor is good when the sun comes up. Brown trout has been real good with limit catches. In 75 to 110 feet of water down about 84 feet. Most fish are being taken on Magnum spoons. So put your favorite color on and fish.

Until next time...keep your lines tight and good fishing.

Well, did not have much to report the last few weeks. The fishing was off due to the lake rolling over. All we were getting were some lake trout but the lake is set up and the fish are starting to bite. Browns in 50 to 70 ft of water and lakers in 125 ft so get your lines in and start fishing.

Capt Joe

04/27/2010

Okay, no fishing for the last few days due to hard north winds but this weekend looks good. Last Thursday and Friday was good with a mix bag of fish..lakers, steelheads, and browns. We fished 20 to 30 feet of water down 10 ft , 16 ft , 21 ft. Saturday, Sunday and Monday fishing was only fair.

Till next time, have fun fish hard.

Okay, the browns are on the bite along with some Rainbow trout thanks to the northwest winds. Lots of bait in the water and the fish are feeding. Stay with small stuff like jr  thundersticks.

                                Good fishing and stay safe.

The boat is in the water and it smells like fish. We got some browns and Atlantic Salmon on Sunday. The fishing is on the slow side, you have to cover a lot of water to find a spot that is holding some fish. Use black and silver if the water is clear. The water temps are currently 40* to 48*.

Keep your line tight and keep  fishing.

Capt Joe

The ice is out, the snow is all gone. A few small boats have been out catching some brown trout along the shoreline in 15 feet of water. The river is still very low so be careful. Our boat should be in the water by April 10. Looking forward to a great fishing season.

Brown trout fishing is great. We are catching them in 90 to 110 feet of water. All colors are working. They seem to be hitting on a little bit of everything. So get out and do some fishing and spend time in the great outdoors.

Hi out in fish land. The Brown trout are on the bite. Fish in 5 to 20 feet of water and look for warm water .Hold your speed to about 2.2 to 2.7 on the GPS and down size your bait and have fun. Just remember just keep what you need and put back the rest. Fishing the game and Yukon is my name.

First Fishing Report for 2009

Brown Trout are being caught all along the shoreline from Oswego to Sandy Pond in 6 - 10 feet of water. You should fish at at the mouth of any stream where the water is warmer. Good luck and keep the lines tight. Happy Spring.

UPDATED
April 1 thru October 1

September 24, 2008

OK...last report of "08". As of Sunday there were still very few fish being taken on the lake near the salmon river. The reason I think for the slow down is that the water in the river is colder then the lake. The salmon are more comfortable in the cold temperature of the river. Over all the salmon fishing was good but not great.

I would like to say thanks to Big Weenie brand flies for a great product line. Their flies helped make the catching good this year. The Yukon Joe fly in glow and in the no glow was a hot thing this year, as well as the Blue dolphin fly and the Likalotapus fly.

I would also like to say many thanks to our friends and customers. You made our season  great..

Have a good winter and stay safe..

First...a correction to last weeks report. After further tissue testing of the 2 large Salmon from last week that were thought to be Coho's the DEC has determined that despite outward markings, the 2 fish are Kings and not Coho's so the previous record still  stands.

The fishing was slow today due to winds from Sunday. The temperature is all over the place. We continue to fish in 70 - 100 feet of water. White and green continue to be good colors. Also J plugs are starting to work.

Good fishing.

The World Record Coho salmon was broken twice within 4 days this past week out of Mexico Bay. The first Coho was 34 lbs and 8 ounces and the last one which is now the new world record is 34 lbs and 10 ounces.

Good fishing to all.

Catching Salmon in pretty good numbers in 106 - 200 feet of water. Fish the cold water  44 - 46 degrees in the thermal cline. The silver echip with the mirage fly and the green echip  with the green fly is working. We are catching some big fish so if you are out there, hold on tight and get ready for a good fight with your fish.

Finally the salmon are starting to show up. We are catching them in 100 - 350 feet of water. Down 100 - 125 is the best. The green echips and also the silver ones are working with green flies. The silver streak blue whale spoon is also working.          We did have one mishap August 1st. We forgot our guys! First time in 22 years  we scheduled wrong and we do apologize.

Good Fishing to you all and enjoy the rest of your summer.

August 3, 2008

Ok, not much to say about this weekend. We had a lot of storms that kept us off the lake most of Saturday and the fishing was on the poor side Sunday. The good news is some kings started to show up in the deep water around 400ft fishing down about 100ft.

So fill up your gas tank and take the long ride to get some fish. Don't forget fishing is my game and yukon is my name.

I'm sorry for the lack of reports, but someone at the host co. did not put in any reports from April up until now. We got things going again, so here goes:

Last week the fishing was good to great with a lot of browns coming to the net There are also some great steelheads and Atlantic salmon being caught. Browns  are being caught in 60 to 90 ft of water, down 60 to 85 ft. Run your spoons back about 25 ft and mix up the colors until you find something they like.  Steelies are out in deep water. Use some silver or red, down 85 to 90 ft or just above the thermocline. Atlantics are in close and may all be in the river by now.

Stay Safe and have Fun.
